14 March 2009

It has been a while since writing and business still continues to tick along.  I've got a good steady flow of cats and small animals that I look after.

In the last few weeks, I've lost a couple of my regular dog walks.  Maisey was my first dog walking job I took when starting Whisker Sitters in 2006.  We became good friends as I had walking her every week day for 2½ years and it now seems strange not having her in my normal daily routine.  I wish her a happy retirement.  I also miss Archie and Gem, a pair of Boston Terriers full of fun and enthusiasm.  They and their owners have moved out of the area,
so please give me a call if you are looking for a reliable dog walker.

Once again, my diary is beginning to fill with bookings for the summer so call soon to secure your holiday dates.  I already have some dates during the coming months which we are unable to take bookings so call soon.

01 April 2007

Whisker Sitters is celebrating its 1st Birthday in April and its been a very successful year thanks to you and all my other clients.  I now care for over 55 cats, 14 chickens, 5 rabbits, 4 dogs, and a handful of hamsters, budgies, geckos, guinea-pigs and a snake, not to mention a large amount of tropical and freshwater fish!  I’m constantly receiving enquires from regular and new clients which is wonderful… Thank you!

My diary is already starting to fill up with bookings for the summer months, so may I suggest contacting me as soon as possible to avoid disappointment (for you and your pets). Don’t forget, if you have a voucher from Christmas they must be redeemed by 31 August 2007.

02 January 2007

Eight months have now past and I'm enjoying every minute. Sadly, a clients pet cat (BJ) had to be put down due to his old age and failing health only days before Christmas.  A sad situation at any time, but so close to Christmas seemed to make it worse.....

The run up to Christmas & New year kept me very busy so I welcomed my break for a week or so with my husband and children.  With my youngest at Nursery and my oldest in year 3 at school, the dream to run my own business, care for my children and work with animals now seems to be a reality.

To all my existing clients; Don't forget to return your gift vouchers when booking your next break away.  I look forward to seeing you all and your pets again very soon.  Happy New Year.

19 August 2006

Four months have past since Whisker Sitters took its first booking and the summer has and still is amazingly busy.  Recently it has been a regular occurrence to have up to 10 home visits a day.

I already have over thirty clients and a large number of them have booked more than once, or have assured me that they will be calling on my services again.  My bookings generally tend to be cats, although as you can see from my photo page my experience with other animals is growing daily.

I’d like to thank all my client’s for entrusting me to look after their precious pets – it’s been a pleasure.

01 April 2006

I have always had a genuine love for animals and was very lucky as a child as my parents owned a pet shop.  I earned my pocket money by feeding and watering the vast array of animals.  My dad came from a farming background and in 1983, moved to a small farm.  We cared for various types of livestock and pets and  I was always keen to help look after them.

In recent years I have owned cats, a couple of hamsters and goldfish.  My cat is loving and very affectionate, he is called Oscar and is 12 years old.  He has been quite sick recently with thyroid problems and a chronic bowel disorder, but at the moment with medication and love he's doing very well.

I'm a wife and mum with two young children; the youngest is about to start nursery school.  I felt the time had come to look for a career that would be both rewarding and of interest to me.  Whisker Sitters will give me the flexibility to care for my children and the chance to run a business with the added bonus of working with animals.

I will look after your pets in the comfort of their own home, avoiding the stresses from travelling and spending time in a new living environment.  I am able to give your home the lived in look while your away, by switching lights, adjusting curtains and removing post.

Whisker Sitters is registered with the National Association of Registered Pet Sitters (NARP).  Fully insured and police checked, so you can feel at ease whilst away, knowing that your home and pets will be in safe and caring hands.
